Service Description

Registrants are required to be a member of a first responder agency. Individuals who are enrolling themselves will need to provide a letter of authorization. This course is designed to teach individuals the knowledge and skills to provide life-saving care to themselves and others who have sustained critical injuries utilizing standard equipment found in an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK). This Instructor-led course includes classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, practical scenarios, and skills evaluation. Scenarios are customized based upon the unique risks and hazards of your organization. STOP THE BLEED® from the American College of Surgeons is included in the course. Course Objectives • Identify the standard components of a basic Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) • Explain the layout and staging of an IFAK • Explain emergency planning for daily activities and moderate/high risk activities • Explain basic concepts of medical triage • Develop an emergency plan given a scenario for an event • Demonstrate basic STOP THE BLEED® skills • Demonstrate Airway Management skills • Demonstrate Primary Assessment and Ongoing Assessment • Demonstrate rapid treatment of traumatic injuries utilizing IFAK and all practical skills
